“Every day, I feel grateful to do what I love — photographing life’s special moments.”
Hi, I’m Katsu, a Sydney wedding photographer. I lead a small, talented team of wedding photographers and videographers in Surry Hills.
With over 20 years in Sydney’s wedding industry, we specialise in candid and natural photography that tells the story of your wedding day.
Many couples say it feels like having close friends — or Japanese ninja-style photographers — discreetly popping up just in time to capture the perfect shot!
I began my photography journey in the 1990s with a classic Canon film camera, long before digital photography existed.
After moving to Sydney in 1996, I launched my first photography studio, Sydney Creative Photography, our sister brand focused on capturing corporate events across the metropolitan area. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to turn my passion into a career, capturing heartfelt moments that tell each couple’s unique story.
Even after more than two decades, photography is still what I love most — it’s a huge part of my life.
From our very first chat to the moment we deliver your photos and film, we promise a joyful, effortless experience.
Enjoy exploring our work, and once your wedding date is set, be sure to say hello to Katsu!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hi there! As you’ve probably guessed, I’m Japanese — originally from Kyoto. If you’ve ever been to Kyoto, you’ve probably visited the Golden Temple (Kinkaku-ji). Believe it or not, that was basically my childhood playground. Not a bad backyard, right?
I moved to Sydney in 1996, thinking I’d stay for maybe a year… and somehow I’m still here more than 25 years later, photographing weddings and loving every minute of it.
I started my photography journey in the mid-’90s, back when we all used film cameras. To this day, I have no idea how we photographed whole weddings without being able to check the tiny screen on the back — because there was no tiny screen on the back. You’d shoot all day, drop off the rolls at the lab, and then spend the next 24 hours hoping you didn’t accidentally focus on a tree instead of the couple. Truly character-building stuff.
Since then, I’ve survived three generations of camera technology — film, digital, and now mirrorless. And honestly, I’m glad I started with film. People say it makes you a better photographer… or maybe it just gave me nerves of steel. Either way, I’ll take it!
I’ve gotta say — I truly love my job. I still feel incredibly lucky that my passion became my career. There’s nothing better than seeing people light up when they receive their wedding photos. Even after 25+ years in the industry, weddings are still my absolute favourite moments to capture.
These days, I work with a small but amazing team of wedding photographers and videographers. They’re not just talented — they’re genuinely good humans. They feel more like family than colleagues, and I’m grateful for each of them. They don’t work for me; we work with each other, side by side. That’s always been my approach.
And yes… we giggle a lot on the job. A lot. Maybe that’s why the photos turn out so natural — we’re having just as much fun as you are!
Once your wedding date is set, please say hello to Katsu!
