Ask questions

Will Katsu be my photographer?

Yes! Katsu will be your photographer whenever possible, capturing your special day with care and attention. If he’s already booked, you have the option to book one of our experienced team photographers. Once your wedding date is set, we recommend reaching out to Katsu as early as possible to secure your preferred date.

Do we need to lock in our package when we book you?

No rush! We understand you’re probably still in the early stages of planning your wedding, so you don’t need to select your package until about two weeks before your big day. By then, you’ll have a clearer idea of your schedule, making it easier to choose the perfect package. That said, make sure to secure your date super early — our weekends often get booked 1 to 2 years in advance!

Will we have an opportunity to meet up before we book you?

Yes, absolutely! Katsu would love to meet you before you make your decision. Whether it’s over a coffee in Surry Hills or a relaxed Zoom chat from the comfort of your home, Katsu understands that you’re likely in the early stages of wedding planning. He’s happy to walk you through everything you need to know, answer any questions you might have, and have a friendly chat.

How many photos do we receive?

We always say, The more fun you have at your wedding, the more photos you will receive,” because we capture all the special moments as they happen. Typically, you can expect around 100–150+ beautifully varied photos per hour. So, if you book us for 8 hours, you’ll receive approximately 1,000–1,500 “WOW” photos — sometimes even more! Most couples are pleasantly surprised by the variety and number of photos they receive. Some even jokingly call Katsu the “Japanese Ninja Photographer” for how seamlessly he captures every moment.

When will our photos be ready after our wedding?

Your wedding photos will be ready within 4 weeks from your wedding day. Once your wedding photos are beautifully edited,
we will send you a download link via email, allowing you to easily download all your wedding photos at your convenience when you're at home. The photos will be high-resolution images in JPEG format, without any logos. This allows you to print or create your own albums or post them on Instagram.

How do you travel on our wedding day?

Often, Katsu uses his scooter to follow you around — it’s a fun way to capture unique shots and keep up with the day’s action! Typically, we ask our couples to provide a lift for Katsu between the getting-ready location, the ceremony, location photoshoots, and the reception venue. If you’ve also booked our videography, Katsu will usually drive with the videographer, depending on the locations and logistics for the day.

Looking for a Sydney Marriage Celebrant?

Katsu works with trusted Sydney Marriage Celebrants who create relaxed, personal, and memorable wedding ceremonies.
Our recommended wedding celebrants coordinate seamlessly with Katsu and his talented photographers and videographers,
ensuring every moment is captured beautifully.

Ask Katsu

Is there any advice from you?

Yes! When you meet your Marriage Celebrant, let them know you’d like to face your family and guests during the ceremony. We’ve noticed that some celebrants stand between the couple the entire time, which can mean we only capture the backs or shoulders in your photos. Ideally, your celebrant should stand at the end of your bridal party, facing your guests — this makes it much easier for us to capture all the special moments beautifully.

Is there anything you don’t recommend?

We generally advise against hiring separate companies for photography and videography, especially if they have different styles or approaches. Photographers and videographers need to work closely as a team on your wedding day. When they’re not aligned, it can make capturing the day smoothly more challenging, which could affect the quality of your photos and videos.

What is Private Online Gallery?

When you choose our “Complete Package”, you will receive a complimentary online gallery for 12 months. The gallery allows you to share your wedding photos with your family and love ones easily. All you need to do is send the link and a password to your loved ones. So they can view and download any photos that they like. Easy for you and easy for them. Here is a sample online gallery.

Do you need us to send you a list of family photos that we want?

You’re welcome to send us a list, but it’s not necessary. We understand that we might not know all your cousins, work colleagues, or friends from university just from a list. To make things easier, we usually ask our couples to designate one family member to help call out and organise the photos. Don’t worry — we’ll be there to assist as well!

Do you need anything from us?

It would be wonderful if you could send us your run sheet, a list of your bridal party’s names, and details of the other wedding suppliers you’ve booked. This helps us know what’s happening and who we’ll be working with. Chances are, many of your wedding suppliers are already our friends!

We are camera shy and we don’t know how to pose. Can you still take good photos of us?

Absolutely no need to worry at all! We completely understand that 99% of our couples may feel camera shy or have never been professionally photographed before. Our friendly team will be there to guide you throughout the day, directing you on where to stand, how to pose, and where to look. Our goal is for you to have a lot of fun on your big day so that we can capture those natural and candid moments while you're simply enjoying the moment, without even noticing!

Say hello

How many photographers / videographers do we get?

Typically, Katsu photographs weddings solo unless it’s a larger celebration with over 300 guests. For big weddings, a second photographer is available as an additional option to ensure every moment is captured. For videography, Katsu works with a trusted team of two videographers who have been by his side for over 15 years. In our wedding videography packages, you’ll receive a complimentary second videographer from the ceremony through to the first dance, ensuring every special moment is beautifully documented with care and consistency.

Do you only photograph weddings?

Around 80% of our work revolves around wedding photography and videography. However, we also love keeping things varied during the week, we photograph corporate and government events through our sister brand, Sydney Creative Photography.
On top of that, we occasionally collaborate with renowned publications such as Vogue, The New York Times and News Corp.

What time do you normally stay until?

We usually wrap up around 9 pm, right around your first dance. By then, all the formalities are done, and the dance floor is ready for everyone to let loose — that’s when the real fun begins!

Do you know any other good wedding suppliers — Make-up artists, Florists, DJ, or Marriage Celebrants?

Absolutely! When you book us, we will send you with “A list of Katsu’s favourite wedding suppliers” whom we have worked with in the past. We do this for all our couples because we genuinely want you to secure fantastic wedding suppliers for your special day and working with trusted suppliers that we know ensures that your wedding day runs seamlessly. It's a win-win situation for both you and us!

Do you offer wedding video?

Absolutely! We have a dedicated team of wedding videographers who have worked with us for many years. Our videography style aligns closely with our photography, focusing on a documentary approach that captures natural, candid, relaxed, and fun moments.
If you love our wedding photos, you’ll definitely adore our wedding videos too. You can visit our videography page for more details.

We are only having a little ceremony just us and 2 witnesses. Can you photograph our ceremony and take some photos of us after the ceremony?

Of course! Intimate ceremonies usually last around 15–20 minutes. We can also visit your favourite spots for photos before or after the ceremony to capture beautiful memories of your special day. For more details, please check out ou Elopements Page.

Can we request to re-edit our photos and videos after we receive our photos and videos?

While it is highly uncommon, we understand that circumstances may arise where you would like to request re-editing of your photos and videos. In such a rare situation, we are happy to offer one complimentary post-production session for both the photos and videos. However, for any subsequent edits beyond the first one, an additional fee of $950 will be applied.

How much time do you need for our photos on our wedding day?

Ideally, we like to allocate the following time for each part of your day:

  • Groom getting ready: 1 hour

  • Bride getting ready: 1.5 hours

  • Ceremony: 20–30 minutes

  • Group and family photos immediately after the ceremony: 20–30 minutes

  • Location photos: 1–2 hours

If you’re getting ready together in the same room, we recommend around 1.5 hours to capture both of you beautifully.
