Having your wedding in Sydney’s winter?

If you are planning your wedding in Sydney’s winter, there are a few things to be considered before you lock in everything.

In winter, we all know that the sun sets quite early around 5pm (or even earlier) in Sydney CBD.

In summer, you can start your ceremony at 5pm and we still can do the location photo shoot after but not in winter.

So the options that you have are:

FIRST LOOK:
We do the location photo shoot BEFORE the ceremony. So straight after the ceremony, we do the group photos and the family photos then straight to the reception party.

The good thing about this option is that you get to spend more time with your family and friends. If you don’t want to make your guests wait after your ceremony, this is a great option. The negative impact for this schedule is that you will need to break the tradition “Not to see each other BEFORE the ceremony’.

START YOUR CEREMONY EARLY:
If you could start your ceremony early like 3pm (or earlier), it will be perfect.
We still can do the group photos and family photos after the ceremony followed by the location shoot, then to the reception party.
HOWEVER… A lot of venues does not allow you to start your ceremony until 4pm or so only because they will have another wedding before you.
If you prefer this option, you will need to check with your venue and your Marriage Celebrant to see if they can do that.

LUNCH RECEPTION:
Another options is to have your ceremony in the morning like 11am.
Then having the lunch reception party from midday until 3pm. When the reception party ends around 3pm, we start the location photo shoot until around 5pm or so. You will get great lighting in this option.
